The Basics of Poker

In poker, players are dealt five cards face down and ranked from Ace high to Ace low. The best hands are those that contain a pair of cards of the same ranking with 3 other cards of the same rank. This is known as a “high card” and the player with the highest hand is the winner. Several variants exist that use different packs and add jokers to the deck. A player has a maximum of five cards in their hand, and all hands must be composed of at least five cards. Wild Cards can be any card of any suit.
