Casinos Around the World

From the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas to the refinement of Macau, there are many casinos around the world. Some are massive gaming resorts with multiple restaurants, spas and even a hotel, while others are small neighborhood joints that may only offer a few tables and slots. Whichever casino you choose, you’re sure to find something that caters to your interests and meets your budget.

While the exact number of casinos is unknown (as new ones open and old ones close), the industry is booming with 40 states now offering some form of gambling. The US is home to some of the most popular and successful casinos, including the Bellagio in Las Vegas, which has become a symbol of luxury and sophistication with its dancing fountains, high-end shopping and dining options, and a wide range of table games and slot machines.

Casinos are usually divided into three main categories: gaming machines, table games, and random number games. Gaming machines are played by one player at a time and do not require the assistance of a live dealer. Table games, such as blackjack and craps, are staffed by live croupiers. Random number games, such as roulette and video poker, use a computer to generate random numbers.

Casinos also have security departments that patrol the premises and respond to calls for assistance or reports of suspicious or definite criminal activity. These departments are often separated into a physical security force and a specialized surveillance department that operates the casino’s closed circuit television system, or “eye in the sky”. Casinos rely on these systems to keep their patrons safe and their profits high.
